Accessible only by ferry and remote forestry roads, the project involved the complete removal and replacement of a deteriorating roof structure protecting critical communications infrastructure serving both Revelstoke and the Mica Dam generating stations.
Working closely with BC Hydro project managers, Speers Construction, engineers, crane operators, metal fabricators, and specialized scaffold contractors, our team developed and executed a construction plan that ensured the sensitive microwave communications equipment remained fully protected throughout the process. Any disruption to the system could have resulted in significant impacts to BC Hydro operations, making precision and risk management essential.
Despite the logistical challenges and the discovery of ant damage within the existing roof structure, the project was completed ahead of schedule and within budget. The aging wood-framed roof was replaced with a durable steel structure designed to provide long-term performance in a demanding mountain environment, ensuring the continued protection of this critical infrastructure asset for years to come.
