From July to October of 2025, we had the pleasure of working with Straight Up Construction on the BC Hydro Goldstream Repeater Station re-roofing upgrade project, located in the mountains approximately 100km northwest of Revelstoke, BC., and accessed via forest service road across the Columbia River. Straight Up acted as the General Contractor responsible for the execution of the construction work, including all the logistics of completing the project on this isolated site.
Faced with the challenge of delivering the work on not only a difficult site, but also with a compressed timeframe, Straight Up – led by Nathan Weston – executed the job extremely capably and professionally, delivering the completed scope ahead of schedule and on budget. Material deliveries and work sequencing followed the project schedule, communication throughout the project was excellent, and there were no concerns with the quality control of the work. In their initial constructability review of the construction documents, viable options for efficiency and cost- savings were identified, and when faced with unforeseen site conditions, Straight Up brought forward clear and concise solutions to the consulting team for review, and then executed them in a timely manner. This was all the more impressive given the inherent challenges of getting materials and crews to the site, which included crossing the river on a service barge and transport up a forest service road.
We can confidently say that from a consultant perspective, this was one of the most well-executed projects that we have recently been involved with, even compared to those that we have worked on in easily accessible urban locations. Based on our recent experience with Nathan and the team at Straight Up, we would have no hesitation in recommending them as a general contractor, and we would welcome the opportunity to work with them again on future projects.

My fiancé and I dove into the intimidating journey of building our first home with Nathan and the Straight Up Construction crew back in 2023 and could not be happier with the process. We have worked with Straight Up on numerous projects over the years. On our last project they completed a huge indoor arena, that would be able to withstand the snow loads of Revelstoke BC. It was not an easy task, they did an incredible job. They also completed the sheds and surrounding grounds. A great team, highly recommend.
I had a great experience with Straight up this summer. Nathan was very organized with arranging all the logistics, the construction of my shop went very smooth. Bruno, Sam and Matt are very hard workers and good at what they do, it was a pleasure to have them build my dream. The project stayed on budget and i'm impressed on the quality. In September of 2017, Straight Up Construction started a duplex project for me on CPR Hill in Revelstoke. Anyone familiar with Revelstoke's fall and winter weather will understand the implications. September was wet; October and November wetter; and a near record snow season followed. Throughout Straight Up were unwavering. A 4500 square foot, two home project was completed in a 9 month period despite an unforgiving work environment. The work produced was uncompromising and detailed. The end product is a testament to Straight Up's workmanship and commitment. Commendable work!
We worked with Straight up Construction to deliver a solar system on one of their Projects. The communication was excellent, Working with Nathan and Darcy was easy and their building is beautiful. I look forward to working with Straight up Construction again in the future.
Nathan and his team at Straight Up Construction were incredible to work with! We are absolutely in love with our new home. The whole idea and beginning of the process was a little daunting and we were super green as this was our first build! Nathan made the whole process SO easy for us. Nathan and his team built our home in 2021. The process was very professional and on budget. The house took 11 months to build. He hired the best tradesman, everyone worked well together. We had an outstanding relationship with everyone involved. It was a positive experience for us, and we would do it all over again.
Straight Up Construction is a fantastic company to have build your house. Nathan is extremely personable and can explain the details of the process and hold ups exceptionally. It was the most painless way of building a house. We just had to show up, describe what we wanted, make choices, and let Nathan and his associates handle the rest. Any hiccups were all dealt with timely and the ball really felt like it was in my court. At the end of the process they developed a book that contains all the permits, warranties, drawings, operational manuals, and even has a check list on how to check your house during the seasonal changes. It's phenomenal!
I am a general contractor and builder in Adelaide, South Australia and have completed several substantial construction projects. I consider Straight Up Constructions a very competent builder and general contractor. They have a very good knowledge of the industry and the building code. Their attention to detail is commendable and management is very conscious of the safety of their crew. Few companies names represent its performance. Straight Up Construction came on board for our emerging resort to build our first Day lodge in 2007. We were under extreme pressure to deliver a first class Day Lodge in 6 months. During a time when market conditions were vibrant and very active, their delivery was efficient, seamless and delivered on time. In 2007 our company was employed to erect the heavy timber portion of the Day Lodge at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. Being from Ontario we were warmly welcomed by the crew from Straight-Up Construction. Having worked all over the world with timber construction it is imperative that the foundation or concrete piers be very accurate as we work with 1/4" tolerances or less. The workmanship put into the concrete foundation and piers was second to none. The owner's enthusiasm and professionalism in working with us was a major factor in completing the project on time considering the many hurdles we had to deal with as is the construction world.
